Job Function

To assist the OGCI Workstreams (WS) with particular focus on the Role of Gas (RoG) Workstream and the Low Emissions Opportunities Workstream (LEO) and to assist the Reporting Task Force (RTF). Managing the day to day activities and playing a pivotal role in driving the agenda of these Workstreams and the Reporting Task Force while generating collaboration between the Workstreams, the Reporting Task Force and OGCI Climate Investments to align strategy and actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the definition of the strategy for the Role of Gas Workstream, the Low Emissions Opportunities Workstream and the Reporting Task Force
  • Prepare the annual work programme and ensure its delivery across Member Companies

Strategic Execution of the Workstream Mission

  • To assist the Workstream/Task Force  leads, Working Group leads and Vice President, Strategy and Policy in defining the strategy and work program of the Workstreams
  • To develop and deliver the ambition of the Workstreams and  the Reporting Task Force, preparing the annual work program, market insight, external policy view, commitments, tender preparation and process and to ensure smooth delivery across all Member Companies
  • To create clear direction and sense of purpose for the activities of the Workstreams in support of the strategic vision to develop white papers, position statements and presentation material
  • To be the focal point for OGCI Energy Transition related matters
  • To support the OGCI Workstreams and the Reporting Task Force to drive the delivery of their priorities, under the leadership of the Workstream/Task Force leads and the Vice President, Strategy and Policy

Coordination and Planning

  • To be accountable for creating connections across the OGCI Member Companies and building strong trust-based relationships
  • To be accountable for the planning, organization, and facilitation of monthly Workstream and Reporting Task Force meetings/virtual meetings and calls, producing and circulating meeting agendas and minutes
  • To be accountable for the planning, organization and facilitation of any extra sub working group needed to deliver the workplan (working groups are thematic in one activity of the workplan and generally form a smaller group of leading companies)

Communication and Outreach

  • To identify opportunities for engagements and track the engagement connection line
  • To create and nurture relationships with key stakeholders
  • To coordinate meetings to introduce the OGCI mission and  the strategy and vision of the Workstreams e.g. with institutions, universities, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), etc
  • To identify international opportunities for communication and outreach, organized by OGCI or external stakeholders
  • To liaise with the Vice President, Strategic Marketing and Communications when a plan is agreed to deliver the above events
  • To represent the OGCI Workstreams and the Reporting Task Force at various meetings and events with external stakeholders in close coordination with the Workstream leads and the Vice President, Strategy and Policy
  • To prepare briefing notes for the Strategy and Policy team as well as external speeches and presentations

Knowledge Development and Sharing

  • To build internal capability by mentoring and supporting colleagues in OGCI and Member Companies, encouraging the sharing of knowledge and expertise
  • To identify and pursue continuous self-development through training and work experience
  • To  maintain a shared documentation database for the Role of Gas Workstream and the Low Emissions Opportunities Workstream members, including minutes of various meetings, reports and useful literature sources
  • To guarantee a continuous high level of knowledge of the science and regulations on climate change from main data sources (e.g. World Economic Outlook, International Energy Agency, Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, World Bank (CPLC), Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs), United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) etc.) and other interesting data providers (Climate Action Tracker, Climate analytics, New climate economy etc.) relative to the Energy Transition
  • To take leadership in information sharing, notably by developing a newsletter for the Member Companies, Climate Investments and any other internal stakeholders

Education and Professional Qualifications Required

  • Degree in energy sector relevant topic (e.g. engineering)

Experience and Technical Competencies

  • Previous experience of technical and policy/regulatory issues in the low-carbon economy/climate/energy
  • Understanding of the energy value chain
  • GHG and climate agenda/policy knowledge
  • Developed network of contacts within industrial, academic and research institutions in Energy and Climate
  • Technical competency of energy systems
  • Understanding of the implication of a transition to a net zero carbon economy and role of the energy players
  • Knowledge on the reporting protocols (Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD), Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG), Science Based Target (SBT) etc.)
  • Knowledge of the climate institutions map, the climate agenda and the critical milestones
  • Strong competencies and interest in the required energy transition and low carbon economy from a technical and policy perspective is essential

  • Ability to judge and maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion on sensitive issues

Additional Information

  • Position is based in London
  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK is essential
  • The role will involve domestic and international travel as required
  • The role may require additional hours to be worked above the normal working hours where necessary to meet business requirements with no additional payment for overtime
